Experience

Art Director/Senior Creative
Freelance Feb 11 - Present

I'm really enjoying exploring new ways of working with different people. I decided to go freelance so that I could get a wider variety of experience and that seems to be working out pretty well.

Art Director
Digitas Jan 08 - Jan 11

I am very proud that at Digitas I evolved my role so I was not only the Brand Guardian and Creative Lead on both Herbal Essences and Tampax, but I built strong relationships with the clients meaning I could grow the accounts. I took what were considered small brands with little creative scope and by communicating with the client constantly built on each project, making them more and more creative. I started out as a designer but it was soon decided that my talents and maturity warranted a step up to Art Direction, I became a mentor and integral leader within the creative team, often implementing process changes and activities that made the whole team more productive. I worked closely with Client Services and Project Managers to really push the creative.

Designer
Gyro International Aug 06 - Dec 07

Gyro was and is a very fast paced agency, learning from Design Team Leaders that understood how to create the best work in the least time meant I was able to become one of the fastest designers in the West (Chelsea Harbour to be precise). It was at Gyro that I first explored what digital work could be and I quickly realised I wanted more.

Design & Art Direction
Freelance Mar 04 - Present

I’ve been lucky enough to know people that needed some design or branding work for private ventures, as a result I have some regular clients and people that I work with. Freelance was definitely an excellent way to make money when I was at university, but even more valuable was the fact I learnt how client/creative relationships work.

Visiting Lecturer
Cumbria Institute of the Arts / University of Cumbria 07 - Present

My university lecturers always said I was very driven, as a result of this drive they asked me to return to give lectures about working within industry, I now visit regularly to give careers advice and talk what happens outside the world of study. I think they wanted me to pass on a little of my work ethic which is quite flattering.
